Watch the demo
From QGIS to a live web map in two minutes.
A real project: 1,324 European regions styled in QGIS, published with one click, then opened in the browser.
The problem
Sharing a QGIS map shouldn't need a server.
You made a great map. Now your client, editor or team wants to open it on their phone, zoom in and click things. Today your options are all bad.
Export a PDF
A 40 MB file nobody can zoom, search or click. And it's out of date the moment you send it.
Run a map server
GeoServer or QGIS Server means a VPS, security updates and a monthly bill, just to show one map.
Pay for a platform
Hosted GIS platforms charge per seat or per view, restyle your map, and keep your data on their servers.
How it works
From QGIS to a link in three steps.
No code, no command line, no server. If you can style a layer in QGIS, you can publish it.
Style your map in QGIS, as usual.
Web Map Kit reads your project the way you built it. Nothing new to learn.
- Categorized, graduated and single-symbol styles
- Proportional circles from data-defined size
- Labels, field aliases and layer opacity
- Points, lines and polygons, in any projection
Click “Create web map”.
Pick a title and your layers. Web Map Kit builds fast vector tiles and uploads them to your own hosting, with a progress bar and a live check at the end.
- Automatic detail level, even for world-wide data
- Choose your web address; it warns you before replacing a map
- Update later: run it again and the same link updates
Share the link. It just works.
Your map opens instantly on any phone or computer. No login, no app, no plugin for your viewers.
- Card popups, search box and legend with layer toggles
- Phone layout with a swipe-up details sheet
- Embed it in a website or blog with one copied snippet
- Use your own domain, like maps.yourcompany.com
Collect · response forms
Ask people about places on your map. Get the answers back in QGIS.
Tick one box when you publish and your web map gets a form. People tap a place, or scan its QR code, answer your questions and add a photo. It even works without signal. You review every answer in QGIS before anything changes in your data.

In the publish window, tick Let visitors send responses. Questions come straight from your layer's fields: dropdowns, dates, numbers, yes/no.
Optional: one access code per place, printed as a QR code sheet, so only the right person answers about each place.
On any phone, with no app and no account. No signal? The answer waits on the phone and sends itself later.
Click Get responses. Answers and photos arrive in a private layer; see what each one would change and apply what you accept. Reports made anywhere on the map: keep the useful ones, dismiss the rest.
Answers go to a private store in your own Cloudflare account, never to the public map and never through our servers. Each answer can also carry the elevation or land cover under it, read from your raster layers. Visitor screens follow the phone's language (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian). How to set it up →
NEW Raster layers in 1.4
Terrain, hillshade and land cover, exactly as styled in QGIS.
Tick your elevation model, hillshade, land cover or scanned map along with your other layers. Web Map Kit draws them with your QGIS colour ramps, blending and transparency, and keeps them in their place among your vector layers.

Colour ramps, multidirectional hillshade, blending modes and transparency come out the way you styled them in QGIS.
Detail follows your raster's resolution. A country-wide 120 m elevation model is a few MB and loads as fast as the rest of the map.
Visitors switch the terrain on and off and fade it with a slider. It's saved with the map for use without signal too.
People tap the spot on the terrain to report. Each answer arrives with the elevation or land-cover class under it, ready to keep or dismiss.
Raster files such as GeoTIFFs are supported. Online layers (XYZ, WMS) aren't copied into your map: pick a background map instead. A map can even be made of raster layers only.
Live demo
Don't take our word for it. Try it.
These are real maps, published with Web Map Kit straight from QGIS. Zoom in, click anything, toggle layers.
Everything included
A professional web map, without the web developer.
Fast with big data
Vector tiles in a single file: only what's on screen loads. Tens of thousands of features stay smooth.
Your QGIS styling
Colours, categories, graduated classes, proportional circles and labels carried over automatically.
Popups with photos, search, legend
Clean card popups with your photos on top, a search box, and a legend with layer toggles and transparency sliders.
Made for phones
Most people open your link on a phone. The layout, touch targets and details sheet are built for it.
Your own free hosting
Maps live in your Cloudflare account. No bandwidth fees, no lock-in, and you own every file.
Response forms
People answer about places on your map, with photos and QR access codes. Answers come back into QGIS for review.
Works without signal
Visitors save the map, background included, on their phone. It opens and takes answers in the field with no connection.
Manage all your maps
See every published map with a preview, copy links or embed codes, update or delete, all inside QGIS.
Terrain & raster layers NEW
Elevation, hillshade, land cover or scanned maps, drawn with your QGIS colour ramps and blending, under your vector layers.

Who's behind this
I'm M, a certified GIS professional. I've spent years building production mapping systems, from routing and geocoding services to fast, large-scale web maps.
I made this because every time someone asked me to “just put the map online”, the answer was a server, a subscription or a week of JavaScript. It should be one button in QGIS.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Do I need to know JavaScript or web hosting?
No. Everything happens in a QGIS window: tick your layers, click Create web map, get a link. The one-time hosting set-up is guided inside QGIS: you create a free Cloudflare account, paste one token, and the plugin sets up the rest.
Is hosting really free?
For typical project maps, yes. Cloudflare's R2 free tier includes 10 GB of storage a month and doesn't charge for downloads, so a popular map doesn't cost more. Response forms and offline maps also run on Cloudflare's free tier (see below). Cloudflare asks for a card when you switch R2 on, but you pay nothing within the free tier.
How is this different from qgis2web?
qgis2web is a great free plugin, and for small maps it may be all you need. It usually sends each whole layer to the browser as GeoJSON, which gets slow once you have thousands of features, and you host the files yourself. Web Map Kit builds vector tiles so only what's on screen loads (the 35,000-point demo stays fast), has a modern mobile-first design, and publishes to your own hosting in one click. qgis2web supports more QGIS styling options and lets you choose Leaflet or OpenLayers.
Can I publish raster layers, like elevation or hillshade?
Yes (version 1.4). Raster files such as elevation models, hillshades, land cover or scanned maps are drawn exactly as styled in QGIS (colour ramps, hillshade, blending, transparency) and shown under your vector layers, with their own on/off switch and transparency slider. The detail follows the raster's resolution; a 30–120 m elevation model of a region is typically a few tens of MB. Online layers (XYZ, WMS) are not copied: pick a background map instead. Raster layers are part of the full version.
Can popups show photos?
Yes. If a layer has a field with photo links, or photo files on your computer (like the QGIS Attachment widget saves), the photo shows at the top of each popup. Files on your computer are copied into the map, resized for the web and published with it. See the example.
How do response forms work?
Tick Let visitors send responses when you publish. Choose the layer people answer about (each parcel, site, school…) or let them tap anywhere on the map, pick the questions (straight from your layer's fields: dropdowns, dates, numbers, yes/no) and how many photos they can attach. Optionally, give each place its own access code: the plugin prints a QR code sheet. Visitors answer on any phone, with no app and no account. Back in QGIS, Get responses downloads the answers and photos into a private layer, and Review shows what each answer would change before you apply it. Step-by-step guide.
Does it work without signal?
Yes. Tick Let people save this map for use without signal when you publish. Visitors tap the save button on the map (or add it to their home screen) and the map area, its background map and your data are kept on the phone. It then opens and works in the field with no connection. Answers sent without signal wait on the phone and go out by themselves when it's back online.
What do response forms and offline maps cost to run?
For most projects, nothing. Everything runs in your own Cloudflare account on its free tier: the form handler is a small Cloudflare Worker (free: 100,000 requests a day, and each response uses only a few), answers and photos are stored in R2 until you get them into QGIS (then removed from Cloudflare by default), and saved maps are read from R2, where downloads are free. The offline background map is cut from OpenStreetMap data by Protomaps at no charge, and a typical area is a few MB to a few tens of MB. Only very large projects would go past the free tier; Cloudflare's paid Workers plan starts at $5 a month and extra R2 storage is $0.015 per GB a month. Web Map Kit itself stays a one-time $17: no per-response or per-user fees.
Who can see the answers?
Only you. The public map never shows responses. Answers and photos go to a private store in your own Cloudflare account, never through our servers, and come into a QGIS layer next to your project when you click Get responses. You can add a short privacy note under the form for your visitors.
Is there a free version?
Yes: Web Map Kit Lite, free in the official QGIS plugin repository (Plugins → Manage and Install Plugins → search “Web Map Kit Lite”). It publishes the same fast web maps with your styles, popups and search. The full version adds response forms, maps that work without signal, terrain and raster layers, photos in popups, your own domain, a list of all your published maps (open, embed, update, delete) and removes the small “Made with Web Map Kit” link. Upgrading keeps your hosting set-up. Get Lite
Can I use it for client work?
Yes. Your licence covers unlimited maps for yourself, your employer or your clients, including paid work. Maps you publish stay online even if you stop using the plugin.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. If your domain is on Cloudflare, the set-up lets you pick it (for example maps.yourcompany.com). Otherwise you get a free Cloudflare address that works straight away.
Are my maps private?
No: anyone with the link can view a published map, like a shared Google Maps link. Don't publish data that must stay confidential. Your data goes straight from your computer to your own Cloudflare account; it never passes through our servers.
Which QGIS versions and computers?
QGIS 3.28 or newer (including QGIS 4), on Windows, macOS or Linux. Your viewers only need a web browser.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once and keep it. All 1.x updates are free.
What if it doesn't work for my data?
Email [email protected] and I'll help. If it still isn't right for you, you get a full refund within 30 days.
